Rayon Sports and APR FC are set to face off on the ninth day of the 2023/24 Rwandan Premier League Championship, scheduled for October 29, 2023. The most-awaited fixture will be at the Kigali Pelé Stadium, with APR FC hosting.

On July 31, 2023, the Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) unveiled the fixtures for the new season year, outlining how the teams will compete in the upcoming season.

APR FC, the reigning champions, will not play their first match against Marines FC, as they will be participating in the African CAF Champions League. They are scheduled to host Somalia’s Transport FC on August 19.

Kiyovu Sports will face Muhazi United in a match at Nyamirambo on August 20, just two days after Gasogi United and Rayon Sports kick off the Championship on August 18, 2023.

An eagerly anticipated match between APR FC and Rayon Sports is also scheduled for October 29, 2023, on the ninth day of the Championship. The Defense Team will host the match at the Kigali Pelé Stadium, starting at 6:00 p.m.

Another significant fixture is Kiyovu Sports’ encounter with AS Kigali on August 26, 2023, the second day of the Championship.

On November 25, 2023, APR FC will visit Kiyovu Sports at 12:00 pm at Kigali Pelé Stadium, on the 12th day of the Championship. Additionally, long-time rivals Rayon Sports and Kiyovu Sports are scheduled to meet on the last day of the preliminary games, December 10, 2023, at 12:00 at the Kigali Pelé Stadium.

APR FC’s participation in the CAF Champions League, where they are scheduled to compete against Somalia’s Transport FC in the first round of the tournament, might postpone their first two games of the season.

This year, the Championship welcomes two new teams, Amagaju FC, who will host their matches in Huye, and Etoile de l’Est, who will play at their stadium in Ngoma.

The first games of the Championship will conclude on December 10, with intervening breaks scheduled for September 1-15, September 18-29, and November 13-23 for international games.

This new season brings excitement to many Ruhago Nyarwanda fans, as APR FC returns to the policy of playing foreigners after 11 years, and Police FC after nine years. Moreover, the number of allowed foreign players has increased from five to six, giving teams more flexibility in their lineup selections.
